At 49, I went into my birthday

with one slow step, slurring my mind

into one strange party.

If this was wine,  I was walking in it.

Dad said my military wasn’t living

so I lived a pseudo paused life

for sixteen years.  So, the pause

button is off and I’m going to the

tabula rasa life,

Not connecting old and young,

not seeing over my shoulder.

Dad still doesn’t know

what I do.

He’s stuck in my pause.
