I shouldn’t call her ‘baby girl’ – she’s grown,
drinking in the world
with the biggest glass she can find.

So I try to encourage her,
not with fully-grown advice
but tiny seeds, planted quickly,
watered and left.

Some will take.

She’s learning,
studying, meeting, emailing,

planning her tomorrows.

I say, “What are you working on, baby girl?”
Oops, did it again.
